What is a PU Timing Belt with Cleats?
A PU timing belt with cleats (also known as a profiled timing belt or timing belt with flights) is a synchronous drive belt featuring custom-shaped thermoplastic polyurethane blocks welded or attached to its backside. These cleats act as pushers, indexers, or dividers, allowing the belt to transport, elevate, index, or separate products with high precision at fixed intervals without slippage.Advanced Cleat Attachment Technologies at YONGHANGDepending on your load demands, positioning precision, and environmental conditions, we utilize three specialized cleat attachment techniques:
Thermal Welding (Heat Fusion): Using advanced high-frequency heat welding, the cleat and the TPU belt backing melt together to form a seamless, homogenous molecular bond. This ensures maximum shear strength and prevents cleats from snapping off during continuous operation.
Mechanical Cleat Attachment (ATN / Nut Inserts): For applications requiring frequent profile repositioning or heavy-duty load resistance, we incorporate removable mechanical cleats attached via stainless steel or brass nuts embedded directly into the belt teeth.
Direct Injection Molding: For large-volume OEM production, cleats are molded directly during the belt manufacturing process to ensure maximum uniformity and aesthetic quality.
